Ultrasound helps destroy Alzheimer’s-causing plaque in mice

Findings in this study suggest that repeated scanning ultrasound (SUS) is useful for removing Aβ in the mouse brain without causing overt damage, and should be explored further as a noninvasive method with therapeutic potential in Alzheimer’s Disease.

hypoechoic_ renal-cortexHypoechoic – not as bright as surrounding tissue, weaker echoes. In ultrasonography it describes tissues or structures that reflect relatively few of the ultrasound waves directed at them.
